Shoprite’s biggest store opens door in Ibadan

A leading retail shop in Nigeria, Shoprite, kept the busy town of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, more active for three days with several events to mark the opening of its 10th and largest store in the country.
Unlike its previous store openings, the management of Shoprite had put together a series of activities to educate and entertain the people of Ibadan.
A fun race, which had over 300 registered participants running a 4km distance within the metropolis, ended with so much excitement as the winners were rewarded with
shopping vouchers worth N120,000.
There was also the free breast cancer screening that saw about 50 women go through the CT scanner as well as complimentary products being handed out by Shoprite and a number of its suppliers.
As expected, the event played host to a number of dignitaries from the state who were guided round the store, situated at the newly constructed Palms Shopping Mall on Ring Road, Ibadan. The doors were finally opened to the general public on Thursday, June 19, 2014, and would offer customers an extensive range of quality products.
“The new 4,754-square-meter aspirational store has a clean, modern feel and offers the excitement of buying everyday household items at cheap prices in a convenient environment,” said Fatai Oshungboye, the store manager.
Over 60 percent of the products to be sold in the store are from local suppliers, therefore, indicating that the presence of Shoprite in the city has added positively to the socio-economic growth of the state.
